Isn’t it lovely? We couldn’t wait to sink our teeth into a slice. Her family kept asking “Is the cake ready??!!” LOL She comes from a large family of 8 siblings so there is hardly a dull moment whenever I go over. I love it.
Now are you ready to find out how to make your own whiskey cake?? It’s simpler than you think, you’ll need…
- 1 Box of devils food Chocolate Mix (she used Dunkan Hines)
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup of oil
- ¼ cup of water
- 2 ounces of Jack Daniel's HONEY Whiskey (unless you’re feeling HAPPY, add more…
we encourage it.) - A hand full of mini chocolate chips (be generous!)
- Maybe some more jack (since we’re being SO generous :D)
- Pre-heat oven at 350 degrees
In a large bowl you will mix your cake mix, eggs, oil, whiskey, and chocolate chips.
Let it mix for 2 minutes or so, make sure you get rid of all the lumps in your cake batter.
Now it’s time to butter your baking pan, make sure you coat all the sides.
Than cover the bottom of your pan with some wax paper, the paper will come up about half way on the sides of your pan.
Make yourself a drink and put on some of your favorite jams while you wait.
Give your cake batter a taste and pour your mix into the pan.
Add another handful of mini chocolate chips and drizzle a shot of Honey Jack Daniel's Whiskey over the mix (this way the chips will absorb more of the whiskey flavor).
Place your pan in the oven for about 35-45 minutes.
At this time you can make your whiskey whipped cream, you’ll need…
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 ½ cup of Heavy Whipping Cream
- Dash of Jack Daniel's HONEY Whiskey
Place whipped cream in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap, keep it stored in your fridge until it has firmed. Once firmed add a dash of Jack Daniels (she used a cap full) by folding it into your whipped cream.
Keep your whipped cream in the fridge until your cake is cooled and ready.
Next is your frosting, you’ll need…
- Chocolate chips/morsels
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Jack Daniel's Honey Whiskey (might as well :D)
- And if your fancy a chocolate melter (not required)
Melt a cup full of chocolate chips/morsels...
Once melted add a mix of heavy whipping cream (very little, too much will make the chocolate too thick) with a splash of whiskey to your melted chocolate. Mix until smooth.
Once your cake is baked and has been placed to cool, drizzle ½ a shot over the cake and take a shot too while you're at it just to make it interesting.
Once your cake has cooled place it upside down over a plate and tap the bottom of your pan to remove the cake.
Flip your cake around (optional: slice the top of the cake to create a flat surface) and add your chocolate frosting to the top of your cake.
Add your frosting followed by whipped cream...
and if you’re feeling extra fancy add caramel and chocolate syrup.
Last but not least add a combination of almond shavings, chocolate chips, and white chocolate shavings.
Your cake is now ready to be enjoyed, this would be a perfect cake a la mode or with a glass of wine.
Leonel gobbled up his slice, he loves chocolate and Jack Daniel's Whiskey... it was love at first bite.
My friend even packed him a slice to go, it didn't make it past midnight.
Much Love, V&L
