Recycled Book Art

This is a late post, I completed these sketches for my sisters baby shower last year. The theme was children's books / nerdy baby shower. I collected several books and stuffed animals, they all received custom glasses. It came out pretty cute, I'll share the other crafts on a later post. Todays post will be based solely on the sketches completed with black ball point pen on recycled book pages. I was inspired by Etsy, I came across a disney sketch of peter pan... so cute! I only completed four, Cookie Monster, Elmo, Peter Pan, and Winnie the Pooh.

Two Become Three and Learning Self Acceptance

I'm officially joining the mommy club!!! Leonel and I couldn't be happier to start this new chapter in our lives. This will be our first child and for now we've decided to keep the gender a surprise. All that matters is that our baby is healthy and it's the main reason why I decided to stop using my topical Rosacea treatment Metrogel.

Calaca Coffee Table Part I

Hello!!! Hope you had a wonderful week guys :)

I have a new project to share (It's about time right?!), it's a furniture flip I've been working on. Found this side table at a local garage sale months ago, it's been siting around the house yelling at me to finish it. :/ I've known what I want to do with it but to be honest I just haven't made the time. Bad furniture flipping lady, I know :(. But forget about all that!! My big plan was to paint it of course but also add sugar skull faces as details on the table top. It's been a slow work in progress and honestly I'm still not done! Regardless I wanted to share the progress I've made. I'm pregnant ok, so cut me some slack!!! Yes I'm pulling the pregnancy card, sue me! Anyway... let's start with the before pics, shall we???

Rosacea & Me

This is one of those topics I hesitate writing about because honestly it's a sensitive subject for me. I gain the courage some weeks and than I back off because a million what ifs run through my head. All the negative scenarios or possible harsh comments from strangers viewing my page fill my brain and I push it off another day, week, month. I've come to realize the good outweighs the bad and I know so many other people out in the world are going threw the same struggle, torturing themselves just like I do some days. Wishing to wake up one day to clear beautiful skin, realizing the Rosacea was all just a bad dream.

Kitschy Mary

During one of my random thrift store visits I came across a pretty Virgin Mary flower pot. It had a few stains and needed a new coat of paint, I figured it was a perfect opportunity to get creative and try something funky and bold. Plus it only cost $5, it was love at first sight... I had found my next project.

Diamond In The Rough

Attempting to find a contemporary / modern piece of furniture at a thrift store can be a challenge. After my parents renovation I was on a mission to find a glass coffee table with a stainless steel frame for their living room set. Something with a unique design was the goal and after a few visits to several thrift shops I finally found the perfect one. When I spotted this gem at the Salvation Army, the steel had rusted in several spots and it had a swirl design most likely applied with a wire brush or sander. To be completely honest I wasn't a fan of the swirls. But I knew the rust and swirls could be removed and the steel's luster returned with some TLC. Plus it was on sale for $25 and the glass was in perfect condition. SCORE!!!! I had found the diamond in the rough I was looking for.
